GET INVOLVED wITH THE YOUTH CONSULTATION

The Youth Consultation 2023 will gather the perspectives of young leaders that show the connections between road safety and broader development issues. This will provide valuable insights to influence and advise policymakers in strategies to #RethinkMobility and will give us a better idea of what the road safety situation is like for youth around the world.

The Consultation will be a way to meaningfully include young voices in the design, implementation, and accountability processes of road safety and sustainable mobility policy-making at local and international levels. It will feature interactive and informative videos, infographics, and prompted and general questions that will help create a solid idea of road safety and sustainable mobility issues on the ground.

IMPORTANT UPDATES

DOWNLOAD OUR CONSULTATIONS REPORT

From the results of all the consultations, youth leaders shared what kind of projects they wanted to focus on. From the results, we were able to classify the most common project types; community mobilization, peer-to-peer engagement, infrastructure change, and advocacy. The predominant project-type recommendations fell under community mobilization because youth see that there is a need to get more people involved in efforts to fight road traffic crashes as the biggest threat to the lives of young people.

download our policymakers’ toolkit!

Our Policymakers’ Toolkit is here! We bring you a unique advocacy document that will help policymakers and decision-makers meaningfully engage with young people. This Toolkit promotes the core principles of meaningful youth participation as a cycle of relationship building, commitment, investment, and a shift in mindset around the idea of working with youth and for youth.

UN HIGH-LEVEL MEETING ON ROAD SAFETY

The High-Level Meeting on Road Safety took place last June 30 - July 1st at the United Nations HQ, in New York City. We held three specific actions here; led an art exhibition featuring six different pieces inspired by the #ClaimingOurSpace Campaign, hosted a side event to launch a policymaker's toolkit that lists guidelines on HOW and WHERE to engage with young people in road safety, and participated in the HLM Agenda as speakers and delegates.

Road crashes are A GLOBAL CRISIS THAT NEED

ACTION RIGHT NOW

Young people matter. Today's generation of young people is the largest ever in our history. Over 3 billion people – nearly half of the world's population – are under the age of 25. Of these children and young people, more than 1000 die every day on the world’s roads. Tens of thousands more are injured.

Road traffic injuries have been the leading killer of young people worldwide for over a decade, so why are youth so often not included in preventing these tragedies?

Young people have a right to be adequately informed, consulted and empowered to contribute to preventing road traffic injuries.
