The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) help define the Youth Coalition’s priorities and its pursuit of practical solutions that save lives and uphold road safety and sustainable mobility policies. Understanding road safety as a cross-cutting issue with other topics such as good health, inequalities, climate action, sustainable cities, and education, is essential for accelerating action across the SDGs.

To create the biggest impact, young people are campaigning and advocating for policy change and implementing proven solutions that contribute to the SDGs at a community and global level.  The Youth Coalition supports its members in linking road safety with the rest of the Global Goals. Through the Global Youth Statement for Road Safety, young leaders are able to present their demands and commitments for safe and sustainable transportation and road safety, in general.

PRIORITIZED SDGs

Road safety is an accelerator of multiple SDGs and, therefore, it needs to be considered in the agendas of leaders and policymakers if we want to reach the goals by 2030. As part of this strategy, the Youth Coalition for Road Safety has prioritized 6 SDGs according to their correlation with road safety. The policy briefs

Through our youth-led research and writing approach, the SDG champions have developed evidence-based documents that showcase how road safety is connected with other pressing issues and the importance to address specific demands and commitments from different stakeholders.

Youth are campaigning and advocating for policy change and implementing proven solutions that contribute to the SDGs at a community and global level. As a way to further efforts in raising awareness of the connection between road safety and the SDGs, the Youth Coalition appointed a selected group of young leaders responsible for upholding the road safety agenda in connection with other global goals. Our Champions are also leading in national and international events on their respective SDGs, developing Policy Briefs as key advocacy documents. They will also be charged with broadcasting how road safety and sustainable mobility is a facilitator of multiple SDGs.
